G305 Introduction to German Literature – Types (3 cr.)
Prerequisite: G300 with a minimum grade of C-. Recommended: G330.
This course will serve as an introduction to German literature and
literary analysis by reading a variety of texts (i.e. a selection of
short prose, poetry, and a drama) from different periods. The focus,
however, will be on 20th century literature. We will closely read the
different texts, and discuss the characteristics of each type as well
as their relationships. There will be a midterm and final. All texts
will be in German. German will also be used as the first language of
discussion, but English will be available as needed.
