SUBTITLE: "España 1975-2000: conciencia social, agitación postmoderna
y conformismo fin de siglo"
This course will deal with the cultural dynamics developing in Spain
since the death of Franco and the restoration of a democracy to
(almost) the present day. The aim of this course is to trace and
comment the different developments and changes lived by the Spanish
culture; so we will examine different cultural manifestations in the
fields of literature, cinema, theater, music and plastic arts.
Class discussion and assignments will be in Spanish. Most films will
be subtitled in English. Course evaluation will most likely be highly
based on class participation and discussion; and on short writing
assignments and a final exam.
This course carries Culture Studies credit and is highly recommended
for students who plan to go on the Overseas Studies Madrid Academic
Year program.
