World War II created the modern world and America’s place in it.
This course is about that war, its military and diplomatic
strategies, the experience of combat, and the leaders, people, and
machines that affected the course of battle. We will study how the
war was fought, how it is remembered, and how it changed the United
States and the world. Students will be evaluated on the basis of
four quizzes, a research paper, and a final exam.
