This course is devoted to the promotion and preservation of Rhythm
and Blues/Soul Music through the study and performances of the Soul
Revue.  A120 Introduces the richness and depth of black popular
tradition through authentic performance practices.  The time span of
repetoire dates from post World War II to present.

Students will participate in  on and off-campus concerts, workshops,
and lecture demonstrations.  Ability to read music desirable but not
essential.

Auditions are required for admission to this course.  Auditions will
be Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at the Neal Marshall Black Culture
