This course offers an intensive examination of the prisonization
process, that is, how prisoners adapt and internalize the values,
norms, and customs of prison society. Class sessions will be devoted
to a discussion of major issues that incarcerated men and women must
confront. Two class trips are planned: One to the Wabash Correctional
Center and the second to the Indiana Women's Prison. Students who
participate in the prison trips will earn bonus points.
