The focus of this course will be the examination of several topics
all relating to sex offenders. The
following issues will be studied: theories of sexual deviance, sex
crimes, sexual addiction, pedophilia, adolescent
offenders, rape and sexual assault, criminal justice responses,
evaluation and risk assessment of offenders, and treatment of
offenders.
The format of the course will be lecture/discussion and review of
relevant videos.
The content will be of special interest to future investigators,
prosecutors, and corrections counselors.  Backgrounds in criminal
justice, sociology, psychology and counseling will be helpful.
