COLLEGE INTENSIVE WRITING SECTION. PREREQUISITE: COMPLETION OF THE
ENGLISH COMPOSITION REQUIREMENT.

TOPIC: ADVANCED EXPOSITORY WRITING (FOR TEACHERS)

In this section of W350, designated for Education majors and English
majors seeking secondary teaching certification, you will explore
writing as writers, readers, and teachers of writing. You will work
on your own reading and writing processes while you investigate
current approaches to academic writing instruction. You will
practice inquiry-based writing in a sequence of assignments which
build on one another as you engage with the readings, some of which
will concern pedagogy and others of which will concern cultural
issues applicable to future classroom inquiry. There will be two
major papers and four short exercises or position papers.

Texts:

and Practice, Margaret Soven
