Perquisites: Fundamental studios (F100, F101, and F102), S260 and
Open to students in the ceramics BFA program only.
Offered every semester, this course provides continued opportunity
for extensive practice in ceramic studio techniques. Emphasis
placed upon using the ceramic medium as a form of expression.
Students should not enroll unless prepared to make a serious
commitment to ceramic art. Important areas of the course include
technique and concepts (ideas), opportunity for much more
individualized, personal artist development. The goal of the course
is to prepare the student for a professional career in Fine Arts
and/or a gateway to the MFA degree. The format of the course is a
formal class situation with more one-on-one faculty input.
Assignments, Tests, and Grades: Assignments are both faculty and
student initiated. The student assumes more responsibility as the
class progresses. Critiques are held and are the basis for grades.
