The honors section of H105 will be devoted to weekly class discussions
of the topics covered in the lectures and assigned readings:
colonialism; background of the American Revolution; drafting the
Constitution; establishing a federal government; the 1812, Mexican,
and Civil wars; the politics of such issues as the tariff, public
lands, banking, and internal improvements; and the tragic and volatile
history of slavery. Students are encouraged to participate in all
meetings of the discussion section.
