DESCRIPTION:
This course focuses on learning and understanding maps, compass, and
successful navigation in the backcountry. Course entails lots of
hands on experience practicing and honing skills such as route
selection, bearings, and triangulation.
BOOKS:
Staying Found, Fleming.
ASSIGNMENTS: Readings, short presentations, and a written exam.
EVALUATION: 50% new skill acquisition, 30% written exam, 20% short
presentation
ADDITIONAL FEE:
The additional fee for the class is $200, which includes
transportation, food, and group gear. You will sign a bursar slip the
first day of class to pay this fee.
