L105 is the introductory service-learning course for the minor in
Leadership, Ethics, and Social Action. Fulfills the Topics
requirement for the College of Arts and Sciences. SH distribution
credit. Two hours service in a community agency required weekly.
Students read and discuss theories of leadership, models of
community, and traditions of philanthropy. Multiple perspectives on
community and service will be critically examined. Local community
service becomes another text used with assigned readings, dialogue,
and student experience as the basis for reflective learning.
