This course introduces the basic tools and techniques of formal
linguistic analysis. Students learn the practical techniques and
abstract linguistic concepts necessary to perform phonological,
morphological, and syntactic analysis, using English and other
languages. Phonetics, semantics, and language acquisition are also
discussed as they relate to these three core areas.
