Labor Studies | Labor and Society
L110 | 7547 | Duggan, Lynn

3 cr., Tuesdays, 5:45-8:25 pm, PY111. In this class we look at the
relationship between labor movements and the rest of society,
focusing on the US system of industrial relations compared to
industrial relations in Europe and on contradictions within US social
policy. We’ll look at social policy as it affects the poor, parents,
immigrants, and the elderly, paying close attention to the influence
of unions on social policy. Whose interests are represented in
determining the body of laws citizens rely on economically,
politically, and personally?
