This course is designed to focus on instruction and practice in
writing and reading Arabic. It is intended to develop a skill in
writing correct Arabic sentences, paragraphs and themes related to a
variety of subjects. The textbook, Advanced Arabic Composition,
presents a wide range of lessons from short stories, plays, and
letter writing to other related topics. Each lesson in the textbook
is organized to cover a different subject related to Arabic culture
and is followed by a list of vocabulary and idiomatic phrases with
their English equivalents together with a list of topics to be
discussed for possible composition themes. It is expected that by the
end of the course, students will be able to write a composition
theme, in Arabic, of about 300 to 400 words. This course is ideally
suited for students who have completed or are presently enrolled in
intermediate or advanced Arabic.
Midterm and Final Exams are required.
Prerequisites: A100 & A150 or consent of instructor.
