Classical Epics

This semester's course will focus on a close reading of the two
great Homeric epics, the Iliad and the Odyssey. Students will read
each epic in its entirety and seek to understand these rich works as
products of an oral tradition and as cultural texts of enormous
influence not only in the Greek world but in the later Western
tradition.
