An introduction to the materials of scholarly practice.  Neither
divisions between method and theory nor conventional generic
fascinations should prevent the development of an integrated idea of
folklore as a topic of study and as a way to conduct research.  The
point of the course is the idea of folklore--philosophically,
practically, professionally--and the idea will be illustrated by
direct reference to reality.
