HISP-S 407 Survey of Spanish Literature I (3 credits)  LITERATURE
Prerequisite:  S331 and S332 or equivalent

A panorama of Spanish literature from the Middle Ages through the
seventeenth century. The readings will include the POEMA DE MIO CID,
LA CELESTINA, novellas by Cervantes and De Zayas, plays by Lope de
Vega and Calderón, and a selection of poetry by various poets.

Grades will be based on three exams (two at 15% and the final at
20%) two short papers (15% each), and class participation (20%).

The course will be conducted in Spanish.
