Social, economic, cultural, and political ways in which Americans
accommodated and resisted changes introduced by large-scale
industrialization.  Populism and progressivism receive special
attention.

There are five paperback novels and autobiographies as texts.
Students will write mid-term and final essays of 3-5 pages that ask
them to integrate readings and lectures.
