Economics is the science that studies the economy. This course is
the introduction to all the rest of economics. You will study
markets and the action that takes place inside them--buying and
selling. You will get answers to questions like the following: Why
is the price of gasoline below $1.00 a gallon? What is a price
bubble? Why does a company like General Electric make over $8
billion a year in profit? What is the market game played between
Coke and Pepsi? Your grade will depend on your performance in the
following categories:
12 weekly homework sets -- 180 points; 3 examinations -- 750 points,
participation -- 70 points, totaling 1000 points.
