The American political process is divisive.  Conflict is pervasive in
making policy and electing leaders.  The 2004 election is shaping up
to be as divisive as any in recent history, with both parties and the
electorate polarized on many issues.  In this course, we will discuss
some of the issues that appear to be defining issues for the
presidential election, weighing both sides of each controversy.
Class participation will be a requirement for success in this class."
