terms of their appointment, institutional environment and the factors
bear on their decision-making. We will cover court organization with
an emphasis on the federal court system, including the Supreme Court.
We will discuss the role of different actors in the legal system and
the processes that govern resolution of adversarial disputes.
Students should come away with an understanding of the philosophy
behind specific practices and a better understanding of how our
judicial system operates.
