Religious Studies | RELIGIONS OF THE EAST
R153 | 10447 | Drewes, D
This course provides a general introduction to four of the major
religious traditions of Asia: Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism and
Hinduism. Adopting a primarily historical perspective, we will look
at the basic beliefs and practices associated with each of these
traditions and how they have changed and developed over time.
Although many of the ideas that we will encounter may seem highly
foreign or unusual at first, we will make an effort to understand
how they fit into coherent frameworks for making sense of the world
and acting within it.
