T101 Living in the Information Age
Class number (lecture component): 11136
Insructor: C.E. Beaudoin
Living in the Information Age (T101) is intended to provide students
with a broad understanding of the social and psychological impact of
the new communication technologies and to encourage original
thinking about new media in relation to theory. T101 serves as a
foundational course for Telecommunications majors and is required
for Telecommunications majors. Through various media-related
assignments, students will learn to analyze the evolving information
ecology as it affects the media industries, as well as social and
cultural life generally. Through a course project, students will
design and develop their own Web page and learn how to become
effectual communicators in cyberspace. Students will also complete
exams, in-class exercises, and writing assignments. The course meets
in TV 251 from 1-2:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Discussion
sections meet on Fridays.
