T313 Comparative Media Systems

Comparative Media Systems (T313) counts toward the Media & Society
area of emphasis in the major. The purpose of T313 is to introduce
students to global media systems, which are greatly influenced by
the social, political, philosophical, and economic structures of a
country. The course will involve four basic phases: 1) the
examination of such structures; 2) the application of these
structures to various media systems; 3) the application of these
structures to one global media system and the group presentation of
such; and 4) the application of these structures to one global media
system and the written presentation of such. Students are expected
to do the following: 1) attend class sessions; 2) read assigned
materials; 3) make presentations; 4) complete exams; 5) complete a
research paper; and 6) complete other course assignments. The course
is held in TV 226 from 2:30-3:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Prerequisites: TEL T205 or TEL T207 or consent of the instructor.
