T438 – Lighting Design
This course explores, on an intermediate level, the dramatic stage
lighting and systematic approaches to the mechanics involved in
translating design objectives into the physical production process.
An emphasis will be placed on concept development and communicating
the design idea through a series of exercises involving verbal
presentations, written reports and visual materials/renderings. The
analysis/engineering/ organizational techniques required by the
Lighting Designer will be developed into a set of working tools and
methods. The practicum component of the course is designed to
bridge the theories of the lighting design process with the
realities of production.
