A602: "Variations on Blackness, I"
This upper-level graduate course is jointly listed with COMP-C 643
and COMP-C 670, and considers the global and comparative dimensions
of race-making - and of blackness - in the modern world. The first
half of the course is devoted to substantial reading across the
disciplines in this subject area, and to the preparation of a
research proposal for an article-length manuscript to be written in
the second half of the class in the spring. Admission is
restricted. This class is a companion class to the faculty workshop
of the same title, and students enrolled in it are meant to be
participants in the workshop as well.
