This course will be an introduction to statistics and its
application in linguistics, especially questions regarding
linguistic structure. The course assuming no prior background in
statistics, aims to develop students' ability to apply statistical
reasoning to linguistic questions, and to select, execute and
interpret appropriate statistical methods for analysis of actual
data. Covered in the course are descriptive and inferential
statistics, linear models, logistic regression (Varbrul), using SPSS
and Excel.
