In this seminar we will consider three closely associated
grammatical categories concerned with the speakers reporting of an
event or situation.  The nature of both lexical and grammatical
aspect, the organization of tense systems, and their interaction
with modality will be examined.  Stuents will develop a paper on a
topic of their choice.
