Sociology | Introduction to Sociology
S100 | 20995 | Irizarry

In this class, you will be provided with the tools necessary to place
aside your personal lenses and view the world from a sociological
perspective. Using basic sociological theories, ideas and
principles, we will examine the social structures that exist in our
society and how social forces shape our everyday lives. Instead of
using a traditional textbook, you will be challenged to apply
sociological ideas covered in class to short readings, movies and
fiction. We will also look at a range of current social issues
including, but not limited to, popular music culture, public
education, corporate mergers, media advertising and the separation of
church and state.
