Through class discussions and debates, lectures, and videos, this
course will examine how individuals shape and are shaped by society,
and will help students to understand the relationship between events
in their own lives and larger social forces.  As an introductory
course in social psychology it provides a general overview of the
principles and theories of sociology used to understand individual and
group behavior.  The knowledge that you gain in this class can be used
in a variety of professional settings, including businesses, law,
criminal justice, education, medicine, sports, and many others.
