Course Description:
This course provides an overview of major issues related to the
occurrence of intimate partner violence in the United States. Major
emphasis will be placed on examining the criminal justice system’s
response to intimate partner violence. Additionally, attention will
be devoted to providing a comparative analysis of intimate partner
violence among distinct cultural groupings (e.g. rural women, women
of color and domestic violence among the GBLT community). Class
lecture will be supplemented by guest speakers and video
documentaries. Students are expected to be prepared to discuss
assigned readings.

Draft of Two Position Paper Recommendations – 20 Pts.
Six Written Responses to Questions Related to the Assigned Readings –
