This  course will introduce students to the major players in the
world of art.  Its emphasis will be on how to see and understand
works of art within the context of history.
	The course will explore the role art has played in given
cultures, including by what standards the art was judged, the role
and status of the artist, and the techniques used in creating the
work.  Students will learn a new visual vocabulary which will enable
them to see and enjoy a variety of different styles and to become
familiar with the terminology used in speaking and writing about art.

This course open to School of Continuing Studies students (SCS).
