the American governmental system necessary to comprehend political
events in the United States. We will begin with core principles
such as political culture, the Founding, and federalism. We will
then discuss the machinery of government—Congress, the Presidency,
the court system, political parties, and interest groups. Finally,
we will discuss the role elections and the media play in putting
this machinery into motion.
