This course will give students a broad introduction to Sociology, and
pay particular attention to social stratification B major societal
systems that humans use to divide themselves from each other.  We
will read a variety of articles that show the interrelation of
concepts such as gender, race, and class and will analyze one
biography and one novel that illustrate their affects in the United
States.  Students will be expected to analyze contemporary social
problems through class discussion, writing assignments, exams, and a
group presentation.
