Philosophy | Thinking and Reasoning
P105 | 19899 | Chang, B
The goal of this course is to introduce students to critical
thinking and informal logic. We make all sorts of arguments everyday
in every area of human activities. Some natural questions would be:
by what criteria some arguments are better than the others? What does
it even mean when we say an argument is better than another? Along
the way we will answer these important questions. We will focus much
of our attention on recognition, analysis and evaluation of the
arguments. Various examples will be discussed in class.
Grades in this course will be dependent on regular assignments, two
in-class mid-terms and the final examination.
