HISP-S 332 The Hispanic World II (3 credits)
Prerequisite: S331 or equivalent
Credit given for only two of the following: S331, S332, S333
FAMILY TIES
An introduction to the study of modern literary texts from
Spain. Readings include plays, novels, short stories, and poetry by
such internationally-renowned authors as Miguel de Unamuno, Federico
García Lorca and Carmen Laforet, as well as contemporary writers.
Thematically, the course reflects the changing representation of the
family across the last two centuries. Class discussion will
emphasize reading comprehension, elements of literary analysis, and
the social and historical context of the texts. Daily reading
assignments, analytical essays, and written examinations.
Participation in daily class discussion is required; therefore,
attendance is mandatory. The course is taught in Spanish with
readings, discussion, written analyses, and exams in Spanish.
Requisitos: Completion of S310 and S331.
