This course functions as a bridge course between the 200 and 300
levels. It is a required course for both the major and minor in
Spanish. During the course of the semester, students receive an
intensive introduction to Hispanic cultures through reading,
writing, listening, and audiovisual and conversational materials,
with a focus toward discussion of the diverse cultural/historical
aspects of the Hispanic world. The course is conducted entirely in
Spanish. By its end, the student should have a broad overview of the
histories and cultures which make the Spanish speaking world what it
is today, and s/he should have attained a level in reading, writing,
and speaking necessary to be successful in advanced Spanish course.
