This course is an introductory course to the sociological study of
capitalist economy and the social processes that comprise the market
system. Connecting real-world examples to theoretical positions, we
will discuss the social institutions that maintain market systems
from employment and occupations to firms and corporations in a micro
and macro economy. This course is meant to introduce these topics
to a general audience, and thus does not assume any prior knowledge
of economics, business, or sociology.
