CLAS-C 494 Problems in Classical Civilization:
Homeric Contexts
Section 1941 / Ready

The Iliad and Odyssey were not the only stories told about the heroes
of Bronze Age Greece. The fragments of the Epic Cycle and myriad vase
paintings, for instance, hint at the countless other tales about
those famous characters. This course uses a range of literary and
material evidence to situate the Homeric poems in their broader
cultural contexts.

Above class open to majors only.
