HISP-S 105  First Year Spanish (4 credits)

This introductory course is for students with 2 or more years of
high-school study and covers the essential grammar and vocabulary of
first-year Spanish. This course presents a four-skills approach to
Spanish with emphasis on critical thinking skills.  Students will
practice speaking in small groups in class as well as reading and
discussing materials in Spanish.  Grading is based on exams,
homework, participation, attendance, and a cumulative final.
Homework load is substantial.  Credit not given for both HISP-S 105
and HISP-S 100 or HISP-S 105 and HISP-S150.  The next course in this
sequence is HISP-S 200 Second-Year Spanish I.
