Histography of the Scientific Revolutions

This course examines recent and classical approaches to the
Scientific Revolution, ranging from the Deborah E. Harkness, The
Jewel House: Elizabethan London and the Scientific Revolution (Yale,
2007), to older classics such as Alexandre Koyré, with much in
between. Students are encouraged to develop their critical
evaluation of the sources focusing on the overall picture as well as
on specific areas. All those interested in the Early Modern period
from any department are especially welcome.
