Slavic Languages and Literatures | Advanced Russian I
R401 | 6449 | Olena Chernishenko

The focus of Advanced Russian I is on the development of oral, writing,
reading, and listening skills, with written work used for
reinforcement. Listening and reading are both addressed through
special materials, which will also serve as a basis for discussion and
oral practice. Video materials and readings introduce aspects of
everyday Russian life, figures, events, and issues that are crucial to
an understanding of Russian culture. Throughout the course, students
will participate in class discussions, debates, and presentations
related to the topics covered in class. Students will learn to develop
an idea and support their point of view in paragraph-length discourse,
in addition to developing their own style of self-expression.
