This course has three general goals: (1) to introduce students to
the field of sociology; (2) to help students acquire a sociological
understanding of the social forces that are shaping individuals,
organizations, and nation-states; and (3) to provide students some
of conceptual and methodological tools that will be useful in their
near future. Some of the topics covered will include
culture/subculture, religion, social class, race, gender, crime and
deviance, and etc. We will achieve these goals through a combination
of lectures, discussion, readings and multimedia materials.
