T452 is a TV series development and script writing class. As a group
we will develop the premise of an original television series. We
will create the characters and develop the plots and character arcs
for 12 episodes. Each student will write a script for one of the
episodes. In addition to writing a script, you will also be giving
written and verbal feedback, or notes, on the outlines and scripts
turned in by the other writers in the class. The best script will be
produced in the spring semester and aired on television.
Class time will be devoted to breaking the stories and molding the
shape of the series. Each Wednesday we will outline two new stories,
discuss the outlines of next scripts to be written, and give notes
on the scripts that are due that day. It is expected that each
script will be significantly revised multiple times so that a
polished script will be turned in at the end of the semester.
The class requires all of us to be committed to the writing process,
to giving notes, and to making deadlines. The expectation is quite
high that all of you will give your maximum creative energies toward
making the best possible work environment and toward making the best
possible television series.
