This course will cover the fundamentals of central molecular
processes occurring in cells, including transcription, translation,
and DNA replication and repair. It will also address the composition
and structures of nucleic acids and proteins, with a focus on the
types of bonds that are important for the creation of macromolecules
and their interactions. Course material will also introduce some of
the mechanisms through which key molecular processes are regulated
and why. This course consists of two lectures and a one
hour "learning group" per week; the learning group times will be
arranged on the first day of class.
