PREREQUISITE:  Requires permission of instructor.

30420 - 4:00p-5:15p TR (15 students) 3 cr.

This course is a workshop in writing poetry.  You will be asked to
write 9 poems (out of 10 assignments) based on model poems and
meters, and will put written comments on your peers’ poems. Everyone
will present an oral report on a poem from one of the required books
(or write a 1 page critique to pass out if you are absent).  For a
final project, each student will research a literary magazine, and
then submit a manuscript of poetry to the magazine of their choice.
Texts will include books of contemporary poetry.
