Study of language, texts, and cultural trends of representative works
in medieval and early modern Italian literature as a base for
advanced courses in Italian literature. Texts will include selections
from Dante’s _Divina Commedia_, Boccaccio’s _Decameron_, Petrarch’s
_Fragmenta_, Ariosto’s _Orlando Furioso_, Machiavelli’s _Principe_,
and Veronica _Franco’s Lettere_.  Prerequisite: M301 or consent of
instructor.  Fulfills A & H, CSA requirement.
