MUS-M 392: Art Musics of the Non-Western World (3 cr.)

An introductory survey of the major classical music systems of the
non-Western world, with reference to Western concert and vernacular
music.

Music of India, Islam, China, Japan, Indonesia, and Africa will be
included, along with national styles in parts of Latin America and
Europe.  Contemporary cross-cultural influences in world music will
also be examined.
