Political Science | Intro to the Study of Politics
Y570 | 28150 | Scheuerman

This course is required of all incoming political science graduate
students. Most of the semester will be devoted to discussing three
straightforward but foundational questions for all political
scientists: What is power, and how best can we study it? What is the
modern state, where does it come from, and where is it going? Last
but by no means least: what is science? Students can expect to leave
the course with an overview of some of the most important attempts
to answer these three questions, as well as some useful practical
information about the discipline, its history, and present-day
professional norms and practices.
