One hundred years and fifty years after the publication of The
Origin of Species, Darwin’s ideas are still controversial,
especially when applied to humans. Yet much of modern medicine and
technology has been developed using an evolutionary perspective.
This course is designed to enable students without science
backgrounds to comprehend the basic processes involved in
inheritance and evolutionary change, and then apply this knowledge,
using a number of interesting and thought-provoking examples, to
develop an understanding of the origins of human nature and modern
society.
